Capitol 4th of July celebration featured
J-J Hooks barrier
MIDLAND, Va. –Concrete Safety Systems, which
rents J-J Hooks concrete barriers, provided 1,320 linear feet of precast
concrete security barrier to the National Park Service in Washington,
D.C. for their Independence Day celebration.
The barrier was used to control vehicles and pedestrians and to provide
security for people attending the event.
This is the fifth year that Concrete Safety Systems (CSS) was the
sole provider of concrete barriers for the festivities. Barriers were
placed in various locations around D.C. including the Mall, the Washington
Monument and near the Capitol. Installation occurred on the night of
June 30th to minimize disruption to traffic and tourists. The barrier
was picked up after the celebration on July 7th.
The J-J Hooks barrier connection system has been crash tested to National
Cooperative Highway Research Program 350 standards. Self-aligning,
identical ended J-J Hook connectors allow for quick, easy installation
of the barrier. There is no loose hardware, permitting a single section
to be easily removed without disturbing adjacent sections and eliminating
the possibility of lost, stolen or damaged parts. This is important
for easy emergency access and protection against tampering and vandalism.
J-J Hooks can be used as a temporary or permanent barrier system. For
