Edgewater Apartments chooses SlenderWall

PHILADELPHIA, PA. – Smith-Midland Corp., the manufacturer of the SlenderWall architectural precast concrete panel system, announces its involvement in the construction of the Edgewater Apartments in Philadelphia, PA. The project began in September 2004 and the anticipated completion date is June 2005.

The patented SLENDERWALL architectural precast concrete panel system was proposed for the exterior cladding of this project due to the rapid installation time compared to other traditional construction methods. In addition, the extremely limited construction space only allowed for a light weight system that did not require the large traditional construction equipment.

SlenderWall combines time-proven components to create a permanent, light weight wall system for both new construction and recladding projects. Architectural precast concrete, insulated Nelson anchors and heavy-gauge stainless or galvanized steel studs create a single, efficient exterior wall system with unlimited design freedom. Due to the exclusive “lift-and-release” panel landing system ofSlenderWall, installation time and costs can be reduced by 50%.

This technology is the only 2” wall connection system that meets AAMA 501.4-2000, the Interstory Differential Movement vertical and horizontal displacement test.
